SX Trailers was founded in 1976 and commenced business initially
merchandising spare parts. The premises consisted of a single
office and small storage area at Chipping Norton, Sydney.
Within a year, the company moved to larger premises at Milperra.
Once there, Southern Cross Trailers (as it was known then), commenced
a service workshop and began buying and selling used semi trailers.
Shortly thereafter the company took on a distributorship of a
range of new semi trailer flat tops and vans.
In 1979, the company purchased three acres of land at Riverside
rd, Chipping Norton and developed the purpose built facility where
SX operates from today.
In 1983 the company was appointed NSW distributor for the newly
owned and managed Freighter Australia, Australia's leading manufacturer
of semi trailers and associated equipment. SX continues that distributorship
today for Maxitrans Australia. The range now incorporates Freighter
and Maxicube proven products, together with its own range of 'SX
xtra' Aluminium semi tippers built by Lusty EMS, Queensland and
'Moore' Steel Semi Tippers.
Branches are operated at Tamworth, Newcastle and Wagga Wagga
in regional NSW.
